Dosha Balance

In a culture that places great value on longevity, Ayurveda holds oils in high esteem. This is primarily because oils aid elasticity of tissues and counteract the ravages of aging.

In Ayurveda, the kapha dosha is said to predominate in childhood, the pitta from more or less puberty to middle age, and vata — characterized by dryness, brittleness, and creakiness — in old age. To maintain viscosity, protect against wear and tear, and aid deep relaxation and peaceful sleep, special formulas for full body massage as well as massage of the scalp and temples have been passed down for centuries.
